31 Oct : Dr.K.L.Gupta, Professor of Nephrology and Dr. Pratibha Singhi, Professor, Chief Pediatric Neurology, and Neurodevelopment, Department of Pediatrics,PGIMER have been awarded prestigious Fellowships of National Academy of Medical Sciences.
Dr.K.L.Gupta awarded for his contribution in highlighting high incidence of angio-invasive fungal infections of the kidneysand in renal transplant recipients in this area. Dr. Gupta has distinguished himself by excellent contribution to research, postgraduate training and patient care. Based on his collection the largest data in the world so far regarding occurrence of fungal infections in renal patients he has shown that angio-invasive fungal infections are an important cause of acute renal failure even in immunocompetent host. On the basis of his work he has written invited chapters in books, delivered guest lectures helped in early recognition of otherwise serious infections.
Dr.Pratibha Singhi is Honorary Consultant In-charge Prayas – the Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled children, Chandigarh since 1985. She has been Consultant Pediatric Neurologist–at The Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK 2004 to 2005 and 2008 and awarded – FIAP, 1996. She is also a recipient of Rotary International Foundation Graduate Fellowship –USC, California, USA 1976, Heinz Fellowship of the British Pediatric Association 1991, WHO Fellowship, 1991, Fellowship for higher training in Pediatric Neurology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Kennedy Krieger Institute, Baltimore, USA 1991-2 and Visiting fellowship of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child health London UK 2000.
Dr.Aman Sharma, Department of Internal Medicine, Dr.Rakesh Kapoor, Department of Radiotherapy, Dr.Vikas Gautam, Department of Medical Microbiology and Dr.Sumeeta Khurana, Department of Parasitology, PGIMER, Chandigarh have been awarded membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences. The awards ceremony was today at Lucknow during the 49th Annual Conference of National Academy of Medical Sciences.
