To create Biodiversity conservation awareness under, Ministry of Forests and Environment funded international programme, ‘Panchkarma and Herbal Research Kendra’, a state level voluntary organization working for the conservation of rare medicinal herbs in the state of Jammu and Kashmir organized an awareness programme at Govt. Girls High School Jourian, Akhnoor. The programme was organized in collaboration with resource agency World Wide Fund, J&K state chapter, New University Campus, Jammu. In the programme the childrens of the school delivered their thoughts in the symposium on the topic Biodiversity Conservation. Maximum students spoke on the benefits of plantation, stressed to overcome the obvious threats climate change, to promote healthy environment in the society and the globe. They gave various theories regarding the conservation of Biodiversity which was the theme of the programme.
Mr. Arun Khajuria who was the resource person has highlighted the importance of balanced development through judicious use of land, water and other resources. He urged for their conservation use to ensure sustainability. Mr. Arun Khajuria also highlighted the importance of Biodiversity Conservation and importance of different medicinal Plants and their valuable uses. Mr. Anup Bhardwaj also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the uses of medicinal value of Amla in our day to day life. Head Master and all the teachers of the school were present on the occasion. On the spot painting competition and plantation drive of different medicinal plants in the school was also organized. More than 100 medicinal plants were also distributed among the students of the school to plant them at their respective places. At last Mementoes and certificates were also distributed among the meritorious students by the Head Master in drawing and symposium competition.
