Bhopal:Monday, January 18 : The treatment of swine flu is not deferred till the arrival of test report and if the patient belongs to C category, he is immediately admitted and swine flu medicines are administered to him. This has been explained by the Health Department today.
Three categories – A, B and C – have been made for the treatment of swine flu as per directives of government of India. When the A category patient reaches hospital, he is given medicines for cold and flu while a B category patient is administered swine flu medicines. However, when a C category patient arrives at a hospital, he is immediately admitted. His sample is taken and treatment of swine flu is started without waiting for the report on the sample.
The treatment of the two persons, who died in Bhopal of swine flu on January 13, was not deferred till the arrival of the test report. One of the victims, Hina (23) arrived at the hospital in the morning of January 13. Dr. VK Sharma informed that she was immediately admitted and administered Temiflu medicine and put on the ventilator. Her sample was sent to Jabalpur for test. Hina died the same day on January 13. Krishna, a 14-month child of village Rampur, tehsil Shujalpur in Shajapur district was also admitted on January 13 to a private hospital. Dr. Mukesh Jain of the private hospital informed that the patient was in a serious condition. On the basis of symptoms, treatment of swine flu was started immediately. He died in the evening. Treatment of both the patients had been started before arrival of the report for swine flu positive.
