30 Aug : Trauma is a leading cause of death all over the world. About 5.1 million people die every year due to Road Traffic Injuries. Another 50 million people are seriously injured and lose their livelihood. In India , there is a vehicular crash every 3 minutes, and a death every 6 minutes. Nearly 300 people die every day and more than 5000 people are seriously injured. India is right at the top of the Global Road Traffic Injury Mortality. The need for an educated, informed and scientific approach towards trauma management is an urgent need of the hour and imperative.
The department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, PGI in association with International Trauma Anaesthesia and Critical Care Sociey(ITACCS), Chandigarh branch, is going to hold a two day Comprehensive Trauma Life Support (CTLS) Course at Advanced Paediatric Center Auditorium,PGI, Chandigarh on 1st and 2nd Sept.,2010. It is an authentic International course on acute trauma management conducted by ITACCS (Indian Chapter), supported by ITACCS International. “We are hosting this programme to promote education and training in upgrading the clinical skills in care of trauma patients, ”said Prof. Jyotsna Wig, Chairperson of the Trauma Course. Prof.S.K.Malhotra, Organising Secretary of the course told that the course would include case presentation / evidence based discussions and skill stations with hands-on training in a very interactive style.
