17 Sep : With the increasing number of Dengue patients and death due to Dengue in Bihar, Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living (PAHAL) organized a Dengue awareness camp at busiest Gaighat Crossing at Patna today. Medical Director of PAHAL, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi while examining the patients, mostly the cart pullers and residents of nearby slum stated that it is a Dengue Outbreak condition looming large in Bihar and immediate attention is needed to stop the Dengue spread.He informed that Dengue is a viral disease spread by the bite of Aedes mosquito. Larva of Aedes grow in clear stagnant water like in flower pots, coolers, plastic bags, etc and they mostly bite during dawn and dusk. Stating about the symptoms he told that if anyone is having very high fever with chills, severe bone and joints pain, eye pain, nausea, small petechial hemorrhage on skins, one should have suspicion of Dengue and his blood tested, specially the platelets count done. If platelets count goes to low, there is chances of internal hemorrhage and black stool and may die due to shock.
Dr Tejaswiadvised everyone to use mosquito repellents, nets and full sleeve shirts and pants and urged the administration for timely DDT spray.
