Cancer Survivors’ Day was celebrated on 11th Feb. in St. Stephan’s School. Mr. Pushvinderjit Singh, M.D. Tynor Orthotics Ltd., Mohali presided over the function. Cancer survivors began the function with prayer to the Almighty for strength and vigour to follow the path of righteousness.
The dance by little angels from APC lightened the somber mood. Our President, Renu Saigal, presented the annual report & tribute was paid to our Founder President, Neelu Tuli. Our survivors turned thrivers under the able guidance of Madhu Nathani, writer, director from Delhi enacted a play “Badalte Rishte” highlighting the emotional ramifications of cancer. These survivors are really special. Their exuberance, positive attitude and professionalism impressed one and all.
In pursuit of our goal to provide holistic help to cancer patients and to make our annual function an occasion for awareness and information besides entertainment, Dr N Khandelwal, Professor,& Head Dept. of Radio Diagnosis, PGI gave a talk on the importance of regular screening.
The Chief Guest in his address lauded the efforts of Sahayta volunteers and congratulated them for making “Celebration of Life’ as the theme of celebrations.
Jeevan Shakti award was given to Minakshi Chaudhry and Bal Jeevan Shakti award was given Bharati Gupta & Saistuti and mementos were given to our supporters. The bereaved families in memory of their dear departed gave away Jeevan Sahayta and Jeevan Sahara awards to needy and deserving persons.
Eminent doctors from PGI, cancer survivors, Sahayta Volunteers, patients and their families and our esteemed donors and supporters attended the function.The function concluded with re-affirmation by all Sahayta volunteers –hum honge kamyab ek din.
