The India Post, Panchkula, 10 Jan.2009 :Panchkula based Alchemist Hospital, holds the unique distinction of being one of the 51 hospitals in the country whose ICU is recognized by the College of Critical Care Medicine, for having world class critical care facilities and doctors.
Two qualified and expert intensivist from Mumbai have been stationed in the Hospital round the clock under the direct supervision of Dr. Praveen K. Jain, who is a leading national critical care expert based in Mumbai, for managing critical care in the hospital, training the doctors, and auditing the best practices in critical care, Mr Avinash Ojha, CEO of Alchemist Hospital informed.
Dr. Praveen K. Jain, is associated with various reputed hospitals in Mumbai including Sir H.N. Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital, Saifee Hospital, S.R. Mehta Cardiac Institute and BSES-Global Hospital, and has set up ICUs across the country including at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, Sir HN Hospital, Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences, Calicut; Phenomenal Hospital, Latur; and is advisor to Amrita Hospital, Cochin, etc.
Dr. Jain said that Alchemist Hospital is the first one north of Delhi to have recognized the importance of providing critical care matching the international standards, and its
ICU has been certified as a training centre for the two-years Indo-Australian Fellowship examination. This recognition acknowledges the availability of the best ICU equipment and round-the-clock presence of specialized ICU trained physicians.
Dr P. K. Jain, a pioneer in the field of Critical Care medicine in India, has been the Founder President of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, and is currently the Chairman of the Critical Care Education Foundation and the College of Critical Care Medicine. He is also the recipient of the "Claris International Critical Care Achievement Award" for 2007, given every year to only one doctor in the world for their outstanding contribution to critical care in Asia.
