July 26 :Research has confirmed that the use of Combination Antiretroviral Drug Therapy increases life expectancy and cuts AIDS-related death rates, transforming a fatal disease into a chronic condition.
A Canadian study of people taking the drugs in developed countries said life expectancy had increased by about 13 years and mortality had been reduced by 40 per cent.
The UN estimates that about 65 million people have been infected with HIV worldwide, two-thirds of them living in Sub-Saharan Africa.
