Dr. Avnish Jolly,Chandigarh, 29 July, 2008 :It’s an ancient way of cracking the complex code of human body and reaching to a definitive diagnosis, prognosis and treatment line. It differentiates the country’s top notch ayurveda experts from the rest of medical fraternity.
But yet it is easier imagined than practiced. It is Nadi shastra, the age old methodology for treating humans through feeling their pulse and understanding the body constitution within matter of minutes. The science, the art that has staged quite an impressive comeback in this ultramodern age of hi-tech medical science. Hinging upon an invaluable human expertise which is far limited in even a country like India, Nadi shastra is the in thing even at medical institutes whose very bedrock foundation is ultra modernity in all forms of medical practice. A testimonial to this observation is Dr Ivaturi Ramakrishna who has just joined as Director, Alchemist Ayurveda unit at the prestigious Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula.
Even as country’s handful of Nadi experts like Dr Ramakrishna are duly acknowledged world over for their remarkable contribution to the development of Nadi shastra, the beginning of Ayurveda unit and Nadi shastra at Alchemist Hospital is a welcome news to innumerable patients of infertility, obesity, hypertension, paralysis, mental disorders, severe joint pains and skin diseases. Dr Ramakrishna, who joins Alchemist group after having put in decades of remarkable work as an Ayurveda practitioner, academician and administrator across several prestigious institutions like Chandra Care, Kakinda and Vallant Healthcare, New Delhi besides many other hospitals, explains that a patient’s ailment can be assessed by Nadi expert just by feeling the pulse for a few minutes.
The diagnosis and the prognosis of the ailment whether it is ‘Sadhya’ or ‘Asaadhya’ is a quintessential part of Nadi science which also helps understand the constitution of body. Whether a body is Vittaj, Pittaj or Kaphaj is ascertained by Nadi experts to decide upon the future course of treatment based upon these very crucial observations, points out Dr Ramakrishna who is excited to take up the assignment at Alchemist Hospital. Joining Alchemist Ayurveda unit is full of promise and I hope I will be able to do a lot in terms of popularizing this science which is truly a boon for mankind, said a beaming Dr Ramakrishna. Nothing short of miracles, Nadi treatment can actually achieve unexpected and unbelievable results where even modern medical science has failed, asserts Dr Ramakrishna. Uncontrollable hypertension, arrested growth and development, hormonal anomalies besides other common ailments are some more key areas where utility of Nadi can work up wonders, adds Dr Ramakrishna.
Shedding more light upon Dr Ramakrishna’s illustrious background Shri Sunil Nath, Executive Director, Alchemist Hospital said that a wide range of experience as an Ayurveda and Nadi practitioner as well as an administrator is what adds a cutting edge to Dr Ramakrishna’s profile. A former principal at A.L. Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Warangal and an Advisor at Shah Satnamji Speciality Hospital, Sirsa, Dr Ramakrishna has been a former superintendent at Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Vijayawada. With over 3 decades of teaching experience as a lecturer and professor Dr Ramakrishna has had a clinical experience of around the same tenure as an in- charge of medicine and P.W.B units at Warangal and Vijayawada hospitals. Besides, Dr Ramakrishna has been an active member of various associations and on board of several universities like M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, Nagarjuna University and Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam. As Technical Advisor with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Executive Director with Concept Ayur Research Foundation and NTR university of Health Sciences Vijayawada, Dr Ramakrishna has contributed his bit towards research and development field.
Currently a member of International Society of Asian Systems of Medicine, New York, Dr Ramakrishna is also a member of International Society of Heart Research and International Institute of Ayurveda and Research Kathmandu, Nepal. Having delivered lectures in over 19 countries under Maharishi Ayurveda Pratishthan programme, Dr Ramakrishna has published chapters on Ayurveda in prestigious publications in Germany and Indonesia apart from presenting scores of papers in several cities of India.
