The India Post, Chandigarh 30th January, 2009 : Centre for Adult Continuing Education & Extension, Panjab University , Chandigarh organised Two Day Training Program on Adolescent Health-a commitment towards social cause at Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalaya Sec-25, Chandigarh . About 60 Adolescents and Teachers attended the Program. The objective was to appreciate the Life Skills Program for healthy living among Adolescents.
Dr.C.M. Sharma Princiapl Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalaya, Sec-25, Chandigarh in his Inaugural address said that because of changing life style of adolescents, there is a need to strengthen the Physical, Mental and Social health of the adolescents by emphasizing cultural values and make them self reliant. He emphasized that adolescents are foundations of our country with 40% populations. It is therefore necessary to take care of their health by educating them to take informed decision in relation to HIV/AIDS.
Mrs. Renu Gandhi program in charge from CACEE highlights the emerging concern about risky behavior among adolescents and said that there is a need to provide students with supports services through counseling. She stressed that the primary need is to impart education about HIV/AIDS and Drug addiction. She expressed that extension Lectures would help the Adolescents to take care of their reproductive health and reproductive behavior in society.
Dr. Avnish Jolly Physician discussed the causes related to HIV/AIDS and how Adolescents could take preventions with regard to HIV/AIDS. Adolescents of today have to generate life skills among themselves like self – awareness, problem solving, creative thinking and management of stress and emotional stability for getting of the culture of trivialization. Participatory dialogue and discussion would help in changing the mind steps of adolescents which resulting into their healthy life style. The students of the school were respective and give all the rights vibes to the Resource Persons, according to Director CACEE.
