By Jagpreet Sandhu ,Chandigarh, Febuary 9 : To Discuss Issues pertaining to Indian Nursing Council an Action Committee of 11 Members was constituted during the meeting of Nursing Training Institutes Association, Punjab (Regd.) today at Hotel Maya Palace, Sector 35 Chandigarh.
The action committee members are Dr.Zora Singh, Chairman, Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes, Dr. H.S Gill, Dr, Rohin Sachdeva, Prof B.S Balluana, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Dr. Sarabjit Narangwal, Mr. Natrajan Kaushal, Dr.Ravinder Pal, Dr. Charanjit Singh Walia, Mr.B.S Garcha, and Er.Shiva Arya. Addressing the Media Mr.C.S Walia, President, Nursing Training Institutes Association, Punjab (Regd.) slammed the policy of INC regarding eligibility of the admission criteria of ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) and GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery).
Dr.Zora Singh, Chairman, Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes and Member of Action Committee said,” There is a lot of scarcity of the 12th students with science subjects. The seats of BDS, BAMS and Bsc (Nursing) also remain vacant in Punjab, because of the shortage of eligible candidates who passed with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). He further added that if Indian Nursing Council doesn’t restore the old criteria of admission that is 12th with any subjects for GNM course and 10th instead of 12th for ANM courses, the association will have to resort to “No Admission Year 2012” for ANM and GNM or may have to knock the door of the Honorable High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
Dr. Singh endorsed the views of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India who admitted that there is lack of Science and Technology students in India and we are much behind China. Mr. C.S Walia, President, Mr. B.S Garcha, Senior Vice President, Mr. Manjeet Singh Dhillon, Vice President, Mr.Shiv Arya, B.S Bains, Joint Treasurer, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, Joint Treasurer were also elected during the said meeting.
