Jiya , Chandigarh, May 30 : There was overwhelming response to the free eye check up camp organised by Indian Oil Corporation along with a city-based NGO Shubhkarman Health Care Society where more than 200 drivers underwent their vision examination. The Corporation had invited the renowned eye-specialist Dr Charanjit Singh (MS), along with his team, for the purpose where free consultation and prescription were given to all. Medicines were also distributed among the poor patients.
Mr Sajiv Kakkar, Chief Divisional Retail Sales Manager, reaffirmed Indian Oil’s commitment to serve the community. “The initiative has been taken in view of the importance of road safety and creating awareness among drivers”, Mr Kakkar said while addressing the media persons.
“The Corporation is also planning to organise other medical check up camps like Bone Mineral Density, Asthma, Dental Care, HIT awareness during the next few months”, announced Mr Kakkar.
Mr Kakkar also apprised the media that Indian Oil had launched a XTRAPOWER Fleet Card for drivers and transporters. The drivers and transporters, under the scheme, were given free accidental insurance up to rupees two lakhs and medical insurance up to Rs 10,000/- free of cost.
Mr K K Abrol and Mr B L Sharma, President and General Secretary respectively of the Transport Association, Chandigarh expressed their gratitude to the Indian Oil for taking up the road safety cause and evinced expectations for more such camps.
