By O.P.Sharma, CHANDIGARH— Uttaranchal Uthan Parishad conducted a programme on “Pravashi Panchayat -2016, at Law Bhawan, Sector 37, which was inaugurated by Jagad Guru Shankaracharya Swami Raj Rajeshwarashram Ji maharaj, here yesterday.
While speaking on the importance of native land, he said, “Native villages are the wonderful place to live in with love and great contentment”. But it’s pity that people of Uttarakhand, specially youths, have been migrating to big cities and towns in search of their livelihood which is the main cause of reducing the real strength of the state. He further said that no doubt, migrants of Uttarakhand are of high profiles, honest and hard working and holding even high positions in various Government and non-government departments across the country and abroad but they should also think about all round development of their own native place which is very dear to them.
Besides, for the past few years, more than 70% people were migrated within the state from villages to towns like Dehradun, the state capital and Nainital and settled there permanently.
Among from the eminent personalities honoured by the Parishad includes Jewel in the crown Capt Bhupendra for his valuable contribution during natural calamity faced by the state in the past, eminent writer Prof Indu Tewari, for his distinguished writings, Bhagwan Singh, for his contribution towards literature and art and Arvind Balooni, an Industrialist and philanthropist.
General Secretary of the Parishad, while addressing a large audience at the Law Bhawan, Sector 37, here, exhorted the Uttarakhand migrants, specially youths not to migrate to other parts of the country and the abroad merely earning their livelihood but contribute their mite to generate self employment for budding youths within the state selflessly. By doing so, they would become the real source of state’s strength and work for its all round development remarkably. He further said that natural resources are in abundance in the State and youths should take an advantage of it. Therefore, they have golden opportunity to explore innovative ideas to find out ways for achieving new heights and creating more avenues of self employment in the tune of tailoring, carpenter work, vehicle, TV, mobile repairs, setting up of a milk plant, cattle breeding, etc to increase per capita income of the state tremendously. This is the only way for preventing youths from migrating to other parts of the country and strengthening the state’s economy to get their dreams of making “the state number one” come true.
The prominent among those, who spoke and present on the occasion were, Dr Dinesh, Health Minister, Anil Vij, Prof. Tankeshwar, Sudhir Kumar, Yudhvir Prem Budakoti, Dayan Nand Chamola, Dr Navdeep Joshi, Ramesh Semwal, Rajendra Thaplial, Dr Manisha Tewari, Vishnu Prashad, Laxmi Kant Tewari, Ram Prakash , etc.
On the occasion, the Parishad also resolved that emphasis should be laid on the following points- Migration from the high and medium altitudes of Himalayas should be treated as national calamity ; Constitution of a board for its all round developments; Setting up of small scale industries related to electronics in accordance with the climate of the state. People from other states should be restricted to purchase land in Uttarakhand as has been done in Himachal, constitution of a Ministry for migrants which would look after the problems to be faced by the migrants across the country and abroad. At last but not the least, allocation of Lok Sabha seats should be determined strictly on the basis of the area and not population.
