Ludhiana : The Sehajdhari Sikh Party under the leadership of its National President Dr.Paramjeet Singh Ranu along with Smt. Sukhdev kaur Sandhu the nice of Sh.Kartar Singh Sarabha with other organizations and Journalists held a peace march in village Sarabha and garlanded the statue of the Martyr. Addressing the gathering Dr.Ranu said that it’s a matter of shame for our leadership and Governments who has ignored the martyrs and have failed to give them the status of National martyr who had sacrificed their young lives for the freedom. He said the Govt. doesn’t recognize them as martyrs and the SGPC has denied to recognize Sarabha , Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh as Sikhs. He further said that the Governments are least bothered about their youth and the inspiration to do and die for the nation is abolishing in the new generation as there is an extra trend towards narcotics and drugs. The youth has been duped in drugs by the leaders for their political vested interests. He warned the youth and appealed them to restrain from drugs and work for national integrity and save the nation and start a new war of freedom from drugs. The day has been a significance in journalism as Sarabha was the first movement to start with a leading news paper ‘Gaddar’ and the day has also been celebrated as World Press day said a speaker. Smt Sukhdev Kaur Sandhu grand daughter of Smt. Dhan kaur ( real sister of Sarabha) addressed the public and said that its painful that the Govt. had honoured people with status of national Martyrs who simply crossed the borders innocently and died in Pakistani jail but has ignored the sacrifice of kartar Singh Sarabha who embraced death by hanging at the age of nineteens for the freedom of the nation. The atmosphere was sounding loud with the slogans of ‘shaheed kartar Singh Sarabha Amar rahe’ and the youth was seen in a enthusiastic mood on motor bikes and jeeps in the rally.
