Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan felicitated Nobel laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi on behalf of people of Madhya Pradesh at a function in CM House here today. Responding to his felicitation, Shri Satyarthi said that the world needs human compassion to establish peace. Economic globalization cannot unify the world.
Shri Satyarthi said that the forces who have handed over firearms to children depriving them of their childhood are becoming weaker by the day. They commit Peshawar-like incidents in desperation for fear of their isolation.

He said that it is an honour for India, Indians and children. He said that bestowal of award increases responsibility. Shri Satyarthi said that a country’s power is mapped in terms of morality and compassion and not by economic progress. He said that India will have to become a progressive country intellectually, economically and ethically. Only liberalism of character keeps hearts united in the world.
Shri Satyarthi said that a child lives in everyone. Children become a part of globalization. He said that a son of the soil like Swami Vivekananda delivers speech in Chicago when wealth of youth manifests itself. He said that efforts are on to make morality a mass movement for which cooperation of all is needed. Shri Satyarthi said that dignity of Nobel Peace Prize would have enhanced manifold had it been conferred to Mahatma Gandhi.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan announced to name the school in Vidisha where Shri Satyarthi had studied after him. Shri Chouhan also announced to make Shri Satyarthi State Guest lifelong.
Felicitating Shri Satyarthi, the Chief Minister said that Nobel Peace Prize has enhanced prestige of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal and Vidisha.
Shri Chouhan said that he is glad to find Shri Satyarthi in him company. All including smallest living beings live for themselves. But the life of only those people like Shri Satyarthi is meaningful, who live for country, world and society. He created global awareness against child labour. Apart from India, children in 144 other countries of world could save their childhood through Shri Satyarthi’s movement. Country’s new Child Labour Act and Right to Education At are also a tribute to his efforts.
Giving information about schemes and projects for protection of children’s rights and development, Shri Chouhan said that all efforts are being made to ensure children’s welfare in the state including food, education and health.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Maya Singh said in the welcome address that bestowal of award on Shri Satyarthi has drawn world’s attention towards child welfare works. She enlisted state government’s efforts in this regard. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan felicitated Shri Satyarthi with shawl, coconut and citation.
Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa read out the citation given to Shri Satyarthi. Shri Satyarthi also displayed the Nobel Prize medal.
Mineral Resources, Energy and Public Relations Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Revenue Minister Shri Rampal Singh, Backward Classes Welfare Minister Shri Antar Singh Arya, Minister of state for General Administration Shri Lal Singh Arya, MLAs Shri Surendranath Singh and Shri Vishwas Sarang, Chairperson of Child Rights Protection Commission Smt. Usha Chaturvedi, Principal Secretary Culture Shri Manoj Shrivastava, DGP Shri Surendra Sinh, Director Culture Smt. Renu Tiwari, CM’s wife Smt. Sadhna Singh, Smt. Sumedha Satyarthi and Shri Satyarthi’s sister Lila Sharma, distinguished citizens and school children were present on the occasion.
Prior to the function, Shri Chouhan cordially greeted Shri Satyarthi on arrival at CM House. Minister of State for Culture Shri Surendra Patwa proposed a vote of thanks.

Shri Satyarthi, accompanied by the Chief Minister, reached the dais passing through gathering of children.
Medallion of Nobel Peace Prize was displayed by Shri Satyarthi to people through the Chief Minister.
Shri Satyarthi also placed the medallion in the hands of CM’s wife Smt. Sadhna Singh.
Shri Satyarthi informed that India has the first such medal which has been conferred to him.
