Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the completed Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum in the presence of President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and other dignitaries in New Delhi.
The event also marks the 4th anniversary of President Pranab Mukherjee assuming office. President Mukherjee was elected as the 13th President of India on this day in 2012.
The museum has been created on 1 lakh 30 thousand square feet and is home to around 2000 artifacts that will tell the tale of Rashtrapati Bhavan and the presidents of India.
The story telling will be through hi-tech virtual reality and multi-screen projection. The museum will be thrown open to public on October 2, this year for six days a week and charges will be 50 rupees per person.
Speaking on the occasion, President hailed opening the doors of the workings of Rashtrapati Bhavan to the common man as a great achievement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed President Mukherjee as a guardian and mentor. Pm said the museum inaugurated today is a great attempt to bring the past back to life.
He said the contribution of President Mukherjee to India is immense. And he has given a lot to the office of the President. PM Modi lauded President Mukherjee as a role model for how people from diverse political backgrounds can work together.
