In a major boost to India’s diplomatic efforts Fugitive jeweller Nirav Modi was arrested by Scotland Yard in London. He is the main accused in the 13,500 crore rupees Punjab National Bank scam case.
Nirav is the main accused in the Rs 13,500 crore PNB scam case. The arrest came days after a London court issued an arrest warrant against him in response to a request by the Enforcement Directorate for his extradition in a money laundering case.
The Metropolitan Police in a statement said he was arrested on behalf of the Indian Authorities on Tuesday in Holborn.
Nirav Modi and his uncle, Mehul Choksi, are the main accused in the PNB scam and they both left India before the details of the fraud came to light in January 2018.
