Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate a conference of chief secretaries on Friday that will deliberate on transparency and ethics in governance and areas of concern in some flagship social sector programmes of the government.
The two-day conference will deliberate on areas of concern in programmes like Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and Non-Conventional Energy Sources Programme, PM’s Gram Sadak Yojana, Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme and National Rural Drinking Water Programme.
There will also be sessions on Internal Security and Results Framework Document(RFD) Initiative, an official statement said.
The Conference has institutionalised the process of interaction with states and union territories.
It serves as a standing forum for exchange of views between the Centre and the states.
It also provides an occasion for discussion on global developments that have a bearing on the country as a whole and the broad contours of national policies in select areas of relevance.
The conference also helps in ensuring an integrated and holistic approach towards development of the country.
