Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif telephones PM Modi. PM strongly emphasises the need for Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against organizations and individuals responsible for and linked to Pathankot terror attack. Nawaz Sharif assures prompt and decisive action against terrorists.
The one question that kept coming up after the Pathankot Airbase attack was answered on Tuesday when Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called up Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He promised “prompt and decisive action” against the terrorists responsible for the strike about which “specific and actionable” information has been provided.
Prime Minister Modi was also firm in his stand on what he expects from pakistan. A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said : Prime Minister Modi strongly emaphasised the need for Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against the organizations and individuals responsible for and linked to the Pathankot terrorist attack. Specific and actionable information in this regard has been provided to Pakistan
India has handed over proof to Pakistan to establish the the plot to target the airbase was hatched on its soil.
After receiving information from India, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has said that its govt is in touch with India and is examining the evidence.
Meanwhile, guns have fallen silent at the airbase but combing operations are still on to detect and deactivate any unexploded ammunition or booby traps laid by the eliminated terrorists.
The NIA has registered three cases related to the entire infiltration and terror attack incident.
Clearly, the ball is now in Pakistan’s court. Several countries including US, Japan, China, France and Afghanistan have expressed solidarity with India in the fight against terror. The US has pressed upon Pakistan to ensure that it walks the talk on combating terror of all kinds. The onus of taking ties forward with India also lies on Pakistan.
