The Prime Minister also launched the digital platform the “Pro Active and Responsive facilitation by interactive and Virtuous Environment Single window Hub” ‘Parivesh’ launched by environment Ministry.
Through this portal, environmental clearances for forest and climate related issues will be done easily.
He also gave clearance to the first project which is being built in Odisha via Parivesh.
Government plans to set up 12 modern biofuel refineries across the country.
Nearly 1.5 lakh new employment opportunities will be generated once this is achieved.
It has set a target to save Rs. 12,000 crores in the next four years by the use of ethanol.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the UPA government did nothing to take forward the programme to make ethanol from sugarcane, started by the Vajpayee government.
It was only after 2014, that this ambitious and forward looking programme was implemented in full earnest.
Prime Minister said that as a result of the efforts of the Centre, ethanol blending in petrol increased from 38 crore litres in the ethanol supply year 2013-14, to an estimated 141 crore litres in 2017-18.
The Govt is committed to a 20% increase in Ethanol blend in petrol by 2030 and to achieving the goal of taking biodiesel mixture to 5%.
The Prime Minister also called on farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs to spread awareness about the benefits of biofuel to the masses.
