19 Sep :Incredible India outdoor advertising campaign in the fashionable Ginza District of Tokyo has been launched. It was launched by Shri H.K. Singh, Ambassador of India to Japan on 18 September, 2008.
The promotional campaign was undertaken on the eve of Japan Association of Travel Agents’ Travel Fair 2008 (19th to 21st September, 2008) in which India Tourism (Tokyo), Union Ministry of Tourism is participating with an exquisitely designed booth. Ten Velo Taxis wrapped in images of India’s tourism products were flagged off amidst fanfare at Ginza, the prime area of this city. These Velo Taxis will be plying for two months and Japanese drivers will be dressed in Incredible India T-shirts and Rajasthani turbans.
Velo Taxis were specially chosen for the campaign as an ecologically friendly mode of transportation which is very popular in tourist areas of Japan. It is also reminiscent of the ubiquitous Rickshaw, India’s commonest mode of public transport.
The launch was followed by a gala India Evening attended by major opinion-makers, media personalities and a cross section of the travel and tourism industry. A Bollywood Dance performance by young Japanese artistes was another highlight of the India Evening.
India Tourism, Tokyo will continues its innovative promotional efforts by launching an Incredible India campaign public bus later this year. Japan is among India’s leading and fast growing markets for inbound tourism. Around 150,000 Japanese tourists are expected to visit India this year.
