29 Dec : Visiting Japanese Prime minister Yukio Hatoyama met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties in various fields including security, trade and explore the possibility of cooperation in civil nuclear energy.
Regional issues like situation in Afghanistan and international matters including climate change and reforms in UNSC are also expected to have been discussed.
A joint statement will also be issued after the summit level talks betwee the two leaders.
Japanese premier Hatoyama, who is on his first official visit after taking over in mid-September, was accompanied by his wife Miyuki Hatoyama at yesterday’s dinner hosted by Dr Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur at their 7 Race Course Road residence.
Earlier on Monday, Mr. Hatoyama met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. ICCR President Dr. Karan Singh and on this occasion Union Commerce minister Anand Sharma were also present.
