New Delhi, 29th January. BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Satish Upadhyay in an open letter written to the Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Arvind Kejriwal has requested that he should rise above party politics and discharge his responsibilities to the people of Delhi and immediately release about Rs. 3000 crores to the Municipal Corporations pending on the basis of the recommendations of 3rd Delhi Finance Commission and also release funds to the Municipal Corporations according the recommendations of 4th Delhi Finance Commission.
It has been stated in the letter that on the one hand employees of Municipal Corporations are suffering due to non payment of their salary and on the other their family members are facing hardship. In place of fulfilling its obligations the Government is raising questions on the appointment of sanitation staff, most of who are working on temporary basis. In contrast, Delhi Government is offering temporary job to its thousands of party volunteers at the cost of lakhs and also benefitting the party workers on the pretext of various functions.
BJP Pradesh President has also pointed out that Delhi Government is raising questions on the expenditure of the Municipal Corporations but while making fourfold increase in the pay and allowances its MLAs, it has forgotten that the Municipal Councillors do not get even a paisa as their Salary and even the meeting allowance is also very little.
It has also been stated in the letter that the Government has released only non plan fund to the Corporations and it is publicising it as payment for the salary of employees due to political malice. In this context a table has also been given in the letter showing the funds received as non plan fund and the pay bill of the Corporations during the current year.
Name of Corporation | Non Plan Fund received during 2015-16 | Pay Bill during 2015-16 |
East Delhi | Rs. 465 crores | Rs. 1104 crores |
North Delhi | Rs. 890 crores | Rs. 2700 crores |
South Delhi | Rs. 642 crores | Rs. 1728 crores |
Delhi Government must know the Municipal Corporations not only spend their fund on the pay & allowances of the employees but it also has to spend on the health services, primary education, mid day meals, teaching aids, sanitation articles, vehicles etc. which comes to about 5000 crore rupees per annum.
Shri Upadhyay announced that tomorrow on the 30th January at 10 am, the BJP workers of various Morchas and Districts shall assemble at Nirman Vihar Metro Station in East Delhi and March towards Delhi Secretariat in support of agitating employees and demanding the release of the funds to the Municipal Corporations. The Mandal Units of Delhi BJP shall expose the political malice of Delhi Government towards the Municipal Corporations before the people of Delhi from 31st March to 2nd February, 2016.
