16 Dec : Smt. Ambika Soni, Minister of Information & Broadcasting today released the Government of India official calendar for 2010. The Theme of the calendar for the year 2010 is empowerment of women through flagship and other programmes of Government of India.
Each month deals with one programme of the government and tries to depict the role of women in it. The Calendar 2010 is unique in its design. It is based on digitally produced line drawings which are imbued with rich colors, along with theme of Tricolor which is continued in all the 12 pages. The Concept, theme and the Layout was developed inhouse by DAVP, while the line drawings were produced by noted Delhi based artist Shri Arya Praharaj.
The Month of January depicts the flagship National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme, which has been recently renamed after the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The Month of February shows the importance of the role of women in the National Action Plan for Climatic Change. The Month of March focuses on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and National Female Literacy Mission. The National Food Security Mission is the theme for month of April. The month of May depicts the Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission. The Month of June dwells on the issue of Right to Information. The month of July shows the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. The month of August highlights “Panchayat Mahila Evam Yuva Shakti Abhiyan” and participation of women in the democratic processes of the Panchayati Raj and other rural local bodies. The month of September shows the efforts towards Minority Welfare. The Mid Day Meal Scheme adorns the October page. The month of November depicts the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme. The month of December depicts the theme of “Celebrating India”- the joyful result of these and other programmes and also tries to underline the increasing participation of women in development of the Country.
Releasing the calendar 2010 the Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Smt. Ambika Soni emphasised that ‘transparency, efficiency and level playing field’ are the guiding motto for working of DAVP. The Minister of State Sh.Choudhury Mohan Jatua was also present on the occasion. The Directorate of Advertisment and Visual Publicity brings out the official calendar for Government of India every year on a designated theme. The calendar is distributed to all Union Ministries, Members of Parliament and Central Government Offices of the country. It is also sent to State Governments, Indian Embassies abroad and Foreign Embassies in India.
