9 Mar :Union ministers Dinshah Patel, Shankersinh Vaghela and Naran Bhai Rathwa figure in the list of 12 candidates released by the Congress on Monday for Gujarat for the Lok Sabha elections.
Patel, Vaghela and Rathwa will contest from Kheda, Panchmahal and Chota Udepur (ST) constituencies respectively.
Madhusudhan Mistry, chief whip of Congress, will enter into fray from Sabarkantha constituency.
The party has fielded Danicha Valjibhai from Kutch (SC), Jivabhai Ambalal Patel from Mehsana and Vittalbhai Radadia from Porbander.
PCC president Bharatbhai Solanki will contest from his home constituency Anand, Prabha Taviyad from Dahod (ST) and former Indian Youth Congress president Satyajit Gaekwad from Vadodara.
Former Gujarat Chief Minister Amarsinh Chaudhary’s son Tushar Choudhary will contest from Bardoli (ST) and Kishanbhai V Patel from Valsad (ST).Six-time MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli Mohan Delkar has been given the ticket from the same constituency.
Delkar, an independent, had joined Congress during AICC President Sonia Gandhi’s rally in Silvassa last month.The Congress had won 12 of the 26 parliamentary seats from Gujarat during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.
The party’s Chief Election Committee of Gujarat had finalised the names on Sunday and is likely to announce the remaining candidates in a few days./kuldeep.htm
