19 July : Addressing concerns on carbon emissions , US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sunday acknowledged that the US made mistakes that added to global warming and said India should not repeat them.
Hillary Clinton has called for addressing concerns on carbon emissions by India but she acknowledged that growth can not be compromised. She added that India will not be pressurised by US on the climate front.
Addressing Delhi Climate change event in adjoining Gurgaon she stressed on the need of agreeable global framework on the issue which addresses concerns of both developing as well as the developed countries.
“I am very confident … that the United States and India can devise a plan that will dramatically change the way we produce, consume and conserve energy,” Clinton told reporters after what she described as a “very fruitful” meeting with Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh.
She also said that Networking of terrorists is global threat and the problem requires a combined response from the comity of nations.
Union minister for forests and Environment Jairam Ramesh has said that India is the only country which has launched 3 billion dollar project to restore forest land.He emphasised the need of joint efforts by India and USA in wider framework of environment management.
