Delhi : CBI today raided the office of the principal secretary of Delhi, Rajendra Kumar on allegations of misuse of his office in getting tenders for a company. CBI has also registered a Case against him and six others in this matter. After issuing warrants, searches are being conducted in the office and residence of Rajendra Kumar.
According to CBI sources, searches related to this case are on at 14 locations in Delhi and UP.
Papers of 3 immovable properties along with Rs. 2.4 lacs cash have been recovered from the residence of Rajendra Kumar.
The officer is not cooperating with the investigating agency with regard to access to his E-mail accounts. Another Rs.10.5 lacs in cash has also been recovered from co-accused, G K Nanda, who is the General Manager of Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd and was formerly MD at Intelligent Communication Systems India Ltd.
Responding to a query from TMC MP Derek O Brien, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday clarified in the Rajya Sabha that the raid conducted by CBI at Delhi secretariat has nothing to do with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal or his tenure.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, the government doesn’t control the CBI.
He slammed AAP saying that the party seems to think it is fashionable to blame the Prime Minister for everything.
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar alleged that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is indulging in low level politics and is sheltering those who are involved in corruption.
Javadekar accused Delhi CM of pointing fingers towards the centre instead of taking action against corrupt officials.
Janta Dal (U) chief Sharad Yadav criticized Delhi CM’s comments against the Prime Minister saying that the differences between the centre and the Delhi government should be resolved within certain limits.
Commenting on the CBI raid issue, Rajya Sabha MP and NCP leader Majeed Memon said this is just a political vendetta.
He added that government should do something on the tussle seen between Delhi government and the Lt. Governor from past few days.
Pandemonium was witnessed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday after the Congress and other opposition parties raised issues including CBI raids at Delhi Secretariat and developments in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.
As a result, upper house is witnessing repeated adjournments. Meanwhile, BJP has issued a whip asking its MPs to be present in House for the remainder of the winter session of Parliament.
