Arvind Kejriwal will take oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister on February 14, after the Aam Admi Party enjoyed a landslide win, while BJP and Congress stood at single digit and zero respectively.
The Aam Admi Party has won 67 seats while its nearest rival BJP has won 3 seats.
“I thank the people of Delhi. It would not have been possible without all of you. We took the virtuous path,” Arvind Kejriwal said addressing party volunteers.
Congress which had won 8 seats in the last elections, has drawn a blank.The AAP Legislative Party is scheduled to meet this evening to discuss future plans.
Arvind Kejriwal has won the New Delhi constituency defeating BJP rival Nupur Sharma by a margin of 31,583 votes.Congress’ former minister Kiran Walia was at the third position.
BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi suffered a shock defeat from Krishna Nagar.Bedi lost to AAP candidate S.K.Bagga.
Conceding the defeat of the party, Kiran Bedi apologised for not being able to prove upto the expectations of the BJP.
She thanked the BJP leadership for reposing faith in her and also the people for the support rendered to her.
Congratulating Arvind Kejriwal for his party’s win, she asked him to make Delhi a world class city.
A record 67.14 percent turnout was recorded in the polls on Saturday in which a total of 673 candidates were in the fray.
