Army Chief General VK Singh on Friday withdrew his petition in connection with his age issue from the Supreme Court.
The Court asked army chief to abide by his commitment and honour his letters of 2008 and 2009 in which he has accepted his year of birth as 1950.
The court said that no prejudice was done to General Singh and the government decision to accept 1950 as his date of birth will continue to be there in service matters.
Earlier, in a reconciliatory gesture, government withdrew the 30th December order rejecting statutory complaint of General Singh against the July orders to treat his year of birth as 1950.Following which, the court asked General Singh to either withdraw his petition or face judgement in the matter.
