India has strongly refuted Pakistan’s claims that New Delhi had launched an unprovoked attack on its border post along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir violating the ceasefire in force since 2003.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said, that India denies any claims of Indian troops crossing the LoC in the Rampur sector, or violating the ceasefire.
He also asserted that India was strongly committed to the sanctity of the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, which is the most important Confidence Building Measure between the two countries.
The MEA spokesperson also called upon the Pakistan authorities to ensure that the sanctity of the LoC is upheld at all times, and to ensure that such incidents of unprovoked firing across the LoC do not recur.
Pakistani troops had opened unprovoked firing on Indian troops in the early hours of 6th January.The roof of a civilian house in Churunda village was damaged in the Pakistan mortar fire.
India undertook controlled retaliation in response.Meanwhile, in yet another incident of ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops today crossed into Indian territory and attacked a patrol party along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir killing two army jawans.
