9 May : Gala programmes have been organised at Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral home in Jorasanko Thakurbari and Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata on the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary.It was on 9th May, the 25th day of Boishakh that the grand poet was born in 1861.That year, the 25th day of Boishakh fell on 7th May. This year, however, the 25th day of Boishakh falls on 9th May.
Tagore’s songs are being presented at his ancestral home in Jorasanko, which is now the premise of Rabindra Bharati University.
In the capital, Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee along with noted dignitaries paid floral tributes to Gurudev.
