12 Sep :Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has added some more user friendly features to its existing website to enable media persons to get all connected information pertaining to one sector at one place.
Soft-launched on 11th September, 2008, this site starts with a webpage on agriculture. Pages for other Ministries will be added after testing the site for three weeks. This site is designed to cater to the needs of journalists covering different Ministries.
One can enter this site by logging in as ‘agri’ with the same password, till 30th September, 2008. After that, specific user IDs and password will be issued to journalists regularly covering agriculture.
While the journalists will get all relevant information on a Ministry and sector at one place, online, this website will also help PIB in tracking usage of information provided by it and using it for further improvement in site design and content.
To begin with, the webpage on agriculture gives links to all the invitations, handouts, features and backgrounders and photographs and info-graphics that are issued by the Press Information Bureau, all in one place. Besides, as and when available, data updates and other current resources such as backgrounders, agenda-notes of conferences, speeches, etc. are to be made available on the site.
This site also provides links to relevant documents on agriculture and links to various organizations related to the entire food and agriculture sector.
Other features of the website include: –
i. quick links to similar webpages of related ministries such as CA, Food & Public Distribution, and Chemicals & Fertilizers;
ii. links to similar webpages being created for all other ministries;
iii. links to releases, photos, searches, etc. on the main website of the Bureau – pib.nic.in
iv. a computer-generated list of current news on agriculture on the net (ie RSS feed).
It is intended to add more features on this website including interactivity, in due course.
This site opens with all features on internet explorer 7 and above.
