16 Sep :Petroleum Secretary reviewed here today the supply situation of petroleum products in the country in the wake of decisions taken at an oil industry meeting chaired by the Petroleum Minister Shri Murli Deora last month on 19.08.2008 in Delhi.He also reviewed the demand and supply position particularly in view of ensuing festival and winter season, when the demand for petroleum products rises substantially. He directed that Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies(OMCs) should ensure adequate availability of all products so that consumers do not face any difficulties.
It was revealed that the LPG waiting list of nearly 8.0 lakhs, a month ago, has been reduced by half to 3.9 lakhs at present and the balance will be wiped out by the end of September, 2008. OMCs also assured to remove any difficulties being faced by the existing customers in getting their refill supplies. Secretary directed OMCs to maintain adequate stocks of LPG in the coming months.
It was decided that the Grievances Redressal System of OMCs would be made more effective and a Toll Free No. for each OMC would be launched from 2nd October, 2008. Any customer can approach this toll free number across the country to lodge his complaints. OMCs would also launch an Awareness Campaign about the Public Grievances Redressal Mechanism for the people to make full use of the facility.
