PASIGHAT, Feb 19: The Pasighat Centenary Celebration 2011 that had been postponed more than twice, ultimately culminated on Feb 16 last in a spectacular show of pomp and gaiety. Inauguration of Centenary Pillar, River festival at Komlighat and exhibition stalls were added by opening song depicting the history of Pasighat and Mega dance performed by 444 girl students was highly appreciated by the audiences.
Inaugurating the glorious event, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu said this would remain a red-letter-day in the history of the State. He praised the education minister Bosiram Siram for having taken the decision to conduct centennial celebration of Pasighat in a befitting manner. Khandu urged the people of Pasighat to take event as a great chance to show their rich culture and big-hearted hospitality.
The cultural bonanza ably supported by wide media coverage was the opportunity to enhance and promote the cultural diversity through the exhibition of dance, drama and music in its various forms with the essence of innermost emotions and feelings of Siang valley.
The host didn’t also disappoint the inaugural evening as a capacity crowd watched with rapt attention. Amisa Patil, famous Bollywood star and her party enthralled the audience with modern filmy dances.
The IPR Photo Exhibition Stall show casing the history on growth and development of Pasighat with precious photographs of culture, auspicious occasions, agriculture and basic of administration etc. The visit of Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Advisor to Assam Governor (1957) and also photos of Rajiv and Rahul Gandhi, Adi Kebang system are still pulling huge crowd daily.
2. Guru Ramdev Babaji arrived this evening at Pasighat. He will attend a Yog Shivir tomorrow morning at 5-7.30 am.
3. The HE Governor Gen. J.J. Singh would be the Chief Guest of the valedictory function of Pasighat Centenary Celebration on 21st Feb next. He will release a book Arunachal Pradesh education Act, 2010, written by the State Education Minister Bosiram Siram.
