23 May : The Union Cabinet today decided to recommend to the President the convening of the Parliament Session from June 1, 2009 onwards for seven sittings. This session of Parliament is proposed to begin with the swearing-in of the newly elected Lok Sabha Members. The Speaker is due to be elected on the 3rd day of the session. The President is due to address the Joint Session of Parliament in Central Hall on the 4th day of the session. The Motion of Thanks on the President’s address is likely to be taken up on 5th, 8th and 9th June after which the session will conclude.
