26 Aug : Rich tributes were paid in Kolkata to Mother Teresa on her 99th birthday on Wednesday and on the occasion a plea was made to Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to rename a Metro Rail station after the Missionaries of Charity founder.
“Let us pray. Love is the light and in the end, the only light that can always illuminate a world grown dim and give us the courage needed to keep living and working,” Missionaries of Charity superior general Sister Prema said at a function at Mother House, the global headquarters of the Albanian born nun who founded her order in 1950.
She also portrayed various facets of the Nobel Laureate nun, who was beatified by Pope John Paul II and given the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.
All India Minority Forum president Idris Ali, who organised an all faiths’ prayer, urged Mamata to rename a Metro railway station after the Mother.
