27 Sep :In view of swine flu pandemic, Indian Health ministry has said that the Haj pilgrims would be required to undergo medical examination for the signs and symptoms of H1N1 before leaving for Haj.
An H1N1 symptom free certificate in prescribed proforma will also be issued to the pilgrim.
India has a quota of 16,0491 pilgrims for Haj this year, out of which 11,5000 are allocated by the Haj Committee.
Meanwhile, a separate advisory issue by the Saudi Arabia, has advised the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and children to postpone the Haj and Umrah this year.
The Saudi government has also advised that pilgrims planning to undertake Haj, that begins on 20th October, to get vaccinated against seasonal flu at least two weeks before travelling to the holy places.
