15 Dec : No complaints have been brought to the notice of the Government regarding discrimination in wages on gender basis.Giving this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shri Oscar Fernandes (Independent Charge) said that whenever violations of the provisions of the Act are noticed, action as prescribed under the Act to secure legitimate wages to women workers is taken both in the organized and unorganized sectors by the appropriate authority.
The office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) in the Central Sphere and State Governments in State Sphere are the appropriate authorities to conduct inspections to find out the proper implementation of the provisions of the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976, the Minister added.
