2 Dec : Former President APJ Abdul Kalam on Tuesday said the country needs to develop "positive counter- terrorism methods" to tackle the menace."India has to have positive counter-terrorism methods so that we can end terrorism once for all. If evil minds combine, good minds have to cooperate and combat them," Kalam told reporters on the sidelines of the Department of Science and Technology (DST)-Lockheed Martin’s India Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP) in New Delhi on Tuesday.
On whether India should take some action against Pakistan if its linkage with the Mumbai terror attacks was proved, Kalam said, "It is for the Indian leadership to decide what we (India) want to do."
Emphasising on the importance of innovation in economic development of the country, Kalam said, "Economic development is powered by competition. Competitiveness is powered by knowledge. And knowledge is powered by technology and innovation."
DST Secretary T Ramasami added, "We need to further strengthen the ecosystem for converting ideas to innovations and finally to successful business ventures."
Started in March 2007, IIGP is a joint initiative of Lockheed Martin, FICCI, DST, Texas University and Indo-US Science and Technology Forum and provides support to Indian innovators to market their technologies and ideas.
