4 Apr : Election Commission has issued further clarifications in the matter of applications for certification of political advertisements on TV channels, cable networks and Radio.In a recent letter to Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all states and union territories, EC has said that for regional parties all advertisements should be certified by a committee constituted under the chairmanship of the returning officer (RO) of respective parliamentary constituency.
Any appeal against the decision of this committee would be referred to the appellate authority under the chairmanship of CEO and members including observer for Kohima and one expert from DDK/AIR.
If the central office of any national parties or state parties with headquarters in New Delhi seeks certification of same advertisement in multiple languages, the advertisement material in each of the languages along with certified transcripts should be submitted to the committee in the office of the CEO of state concerned.
The applicant should also submit a duly sworn affidavit stating that the regional language version of the advertisement is a true translation of the advertisement in Hindi or English and the applicant would be responsible for any mistake therein, the EC letter available in Kohima said.
