6 June : State of the art surveillance methods will be adopted by the Delhi police including installation of digital video walls at its HQ to keep a hawk eye vigil during the Commonwealth Games next year.Real time video footage from across the city will be beamed to ‘digital video walls’ that would be set up at the Delhi Police HQ when the sporting extravaganza takes place next year, official sources said in New Delhi on Saturday.
The video footage from border points, Games’ venues and traffic intersections can be accessed at the Central Command Unit, the construction of which is expected to be completed soon.
"It will be a huge hall with digital walls. There will be 24 cubes. We can have footage from different stadia and traffic intersections. We will get real time footage," city Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal told reporters in New Delhi.
There will be hotlines and wireless set up at the unit through which deployment can be made easily in case of an emergency, a senior police official said.
To enhance security during the Games, the government has already approved a special project for setting up of a state-of-the-art dedicated communication network for Delhi Police.
The network -Cyber Highway will facilitate implementation of convergent services of application, call interception and monitoring system.
