27 Dec : With recovery of three more bodies from the debris of an under-construction bridge over Chambal river in Rajasthan’s Kota district, the death toll has risen to 26. “One dead body was pulled out this morning while the other two were recovered late last night and in the wee hours,” police said on Sunday.
“Around 15 others are still missing and efforts are underway to locate the missing labourers who were working at the site,” they said.The bridge had collapsed on Thursday evening.
The two arrested officials — Chief Project Manager of Hyundai Engineering and Construction and Deputy Project Manager of Gammon India — were sent to a five-day police remand on Saturday.
Kota police has also registered a case against 14 officials of Gammon and Hyundai in connection with the incident.
