8 Jan : Congress on Friday favoured the policy of General Secretary Rahul Gandhi of the party going alone in state elections, saying the suggestion has brought new hope in the minds of its activists.
“His (Rahul Gandhi’s) policy to go it alone in the states, where Congress was in coalition with regional parties, has brought new hope in the minds of Congress activists from these areas,” an editorial comment in the latest issue of party mouthpiece ‘Congress Sandesh’ said.
It said, “Sonia Gandhi is being ably assisted by the Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi whose efforts brought about a favourable change in the once Congress stronghold of Uttar Pradesh.”
The editorial also hailed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying the path of progress created by the government is being further strengthened.
Hailing the party President, the editorial said India is being recognised the world over as an emerging super power and a very important role has been played by the Congress party and Sonia Gandhi.
“She has successfully led the party towards redeeming its old glory, for more than a decade,” the editorial noted.
