June 1 :The BJP on Sunday criticised the UPA government for its alleged failure in checking the price rise and inflation. The party President Mr. Rajnath Singh held the UPA government responsible for rising food prices in the country.
Briefing reporters in New Delhi this afternoon the party spokesman Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the party President has appealed to all political parties to collectively build pressure on the UPA government to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss what he called the agrarian crisis in the country.
Earlier, while inaugurating the two day national executive of the party Mr. Singh urged party rank and file to be ready for the coming assembly elections in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to be held next year.
He emphasised the need to concentrate on the youth vote which he said could play a major role in the change of power at the Centre. Referring to party’s victory in Karnataka assembly elections held recently, Mr. Singh said that it’s long term impact will be visible in years to come.
AIR correspondent reports that the saffron party has brought to the fore once again the issues of cultural nationalism, scrapping of article 370 and uniform civil code after they were put on back burner in the wake of coalition pressures.
The national executive meet which began in New Delhi today is being attended by senior party leaders and Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States except Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. The meet will close tomorrow with the address of the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mr. L. K. Advani. Courtsey : AIR
