3 Oct : The portals of Badrinath Temple, one of the highest shrines of Hindus and one among the Chardhams, will be closed for winter on 17th November.The temple, situated in the foothills of Garhwal Himalayas, would remain closed for six-months during the winter as a part of its tradition, temple sources said.
The decision for the closure of the temple was taken today in the presence of head priest Rawal Keshav Namboodiri on the occasion of Vijaydashmi, they said.
According to the traditions, the auspicious date and time for the closure of the temple is decided on every Dussehra.
The portals of the centuries-old shrine, located on the banks of the Alaknanda River and is dedicated to Lord Vishu, will be closed at 3:40 PM on 17th November amid religious rituals
