10 Dec : Dismissing suggestions that Article 370, which provides special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was no longer an issue for the party, the BJP has said its abrogation was still high on the party’s agenda.
"Issue of Article 370 has not been dropped by BJP and it is still on our agenda, but the party lacks legislative strength to amend or abrogate it," BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley told reporters at Jammu on Wednesday.
"Forget about the party dropping the issue, our political resolution on Article 370 continues to be firmer than it was in the past. It is a propaganda launched by some parties to mislead Jammu and Kashmir people over BJP’s stand over Article 370," he said.
"Article 370 created a special status for the state and pushed it into seclusion," he claimed. He appealed to the electorate to unite and not allow fragmentation of pro-Jammu vote bank.
"If electorates want to have their representation in the assembly, they must vote unitedly for BJP," he said.Lashing out at the Congress, Jaitley said the party should clear its stand over its post-poll alliances with NC and PDP.
"People should ask Congress if they will go for an alliance with PDP or NC which are anti-Jammu parties," he said.On terrorism being a issue, he said "Terrorism is and will remain a political and national issue."
