DELHI,JunE 2:The two-day National Executive concluded today with the call by the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and veteran BJP leader Mr. L.K.Advani urging the party cadres to prepare for the coming assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Addressing the concluding function in New Delhi this evening, he called upon the workers to intensify mass contact programmes to reach out every section of society including Muslims and Christians.
Briefing reporters about the National Executive meeting, the party spokesman Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Mr Advani while referring to party’s victory in Karnataka assembly elections, said that its appeal has transcended social and geographical boundaries.
He said, Mr. Advani charged the government with mismanaging the economy and internal security situation. Veteran BJP Leader also alleged that not a single case of terrorist attack has been investigated in the last four years.
AIR correspondent reports that the party in its economic resolution alleges that the inept policies of the UPA government and its inherent weaknesses are mainly responsible for rising inflation.
The resolution says that the government is speaking in different voices on the price rise issue and alleged that the government paid no attention either to the food economy or agriculture and infrastructure.
The resolution adopted on foreign affairs urges the Congress to take a clear stand on the Indo US Civil Nuclear Deal instead of blaming others. Briefing reporters on the foreign policy resolution adopted at the party’s National Executive in New Delhi senior party leader Mr. Jaswant Singh said the resolution severely criticized the Manmohan Singh government for its alleged failure in addressing foreign policy and national security challenges facing the country.
The resolution attacked the government for its way of engaging countries like Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China and Russia. On Nepal, the party expressed satisfaction about the recent elections but noted that Maoists had only got about a third of the popular vote and that too through intimidation.cOURTSEY : AIR
