24 Nov : Taking a dig at the Congress for raising the issue of "Hindu terrorism", BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani has said that the party has raised the matter as it had run out of issues.
"BJP has never associated terrorism with any religion, while the Congress took up the matter as it was left with no other issue to talk about," Advani said while addressing an election rally in Indore on Monday.
He said, "Terrorists are the enemy of this nation and they should not be spared at any cost…it is not right to link any religion with terrorism."
Talking about the alleged atrocities on Malegaon blast case accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur by the Maharashtra ATS, he said, "I have read her affidavit filed in a Nashik court and was surprised to learn that a sadhvi could be tortured like this in this country."
Hitting out at the Congress for not naming any chief ministerial candidate for the 27th November Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Advani said that the grand old party was "playing the match without a captain".
"Congress is playing the match without a captain…The Congress team has failed to name its captain in three matches — MP, Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh," the senior BJP leader said.
Praising Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan for the "developmental" steps taken by his government in the state, Advani said that he was confident of the party’s victory in the state Assembly polls.
