Delhi, 29 May:The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results for Class X examination on Thursday, with 87.08 per cent of the candidates clearing the exam, as girls yet again outdid the boys.
"Like the last year, Girls do better than boys. Pass percentage of girls is 87.96 per cent compared to that of boys which is 86.46 per cent," CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly said at a crowded press conference in New Delhi.
Among the six CBSE regions, the overall all pass percentage of Chennai region is the highest 95.26 per cent while the lowest is of Guwahati region 57.29 per cent.
The pass percentage of other four regions are Ajmer 94.22, Panchkula 89.07, Delhi 82.87 and Allahabad 89.10.
The pass percentage of the examination in 2007 was 84.44 per cent. This year, a total of 7,65,687 candidates had registered themselves for the examination across India and foreign centres, whereas 7,56,989 finally appeared.
The pass percentage of regular students is 88.96 as compared to 26.34 of private candidates. Ganguly said 2589 students scored 95 per cent or above marks, of which 85 per cent were from private schools, while 29,936 students got 90 per cent or above marks, which is 4 per cent of the total students.
In Delhi, 242 students scored 95 per cent or above marks while 4503 students, of which 2580 were girls, got 90 per cent or above marks.
Among the disabled students, 19 students scored 90 per cent or above marks of which nine were from Chennai.Delhi’s Shayan Lahiri (deaf) and Prateek Asnani (dyslexia) received more than 90 per cent marks.
Out of the total 1419 disabled students, 87.50 per cent cleared the examination.The examination was held between 1st and 27th March.Courtsey : DD NEWS
