Chandigarh, 23rd December- With a sharp increase in the stressful working modes, strained relationships and deteriorating health, the city is fast becoming a hub of drastic changes in lifestyle. Psychologists and councilors across the city are concerned over the phenomena and other related problems cropping up due to stress like dependence on harmful drugs.
A press conference on the “Drastic changes in the lifestyle in Chandigarh, an increase in stressful living and how to combat” was held at the Art of Living centre in sector 35, here today. Teachers of this global foundation (which is also the world’s largest volunteer based NGO), who have also been interacting with thousands of city residents through their courses, shared their experiences.
They narrated how drastically stress is taking on the professional as well as the personal life of people. A reference was made to some cases that the teachers have come across during their courses, which indicate a dire need to combat the situation fast.
“The reasons for stress are in our own minds but we do not realize that the secret of our mind is in our breath itself. Combating stress is very easy and does not take much effort. The power of breathing techniques like sudarshan kriya, is amazing and is much more than what can be visualized. It cleanses toxins and deep rooted physical, mental and emotional blocks from the body,” said Gaurav Sood, a faculty with the Art of Living.
These faculty members with the foundation are now organizing a “holiday special three days workshop” on the weekend at SOREM School Sector 36C from 25th to 27th December 2009.
The motive of the workshop is to introduce people to the Sudershan Kriya, a unique world renowned breathing technique which brings enormous joy, stress-free mind, healthy body and blossomed life.
The technique was been devised by humanitarian and universally revered spiritual leader, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is founder of The Art of Living Foundation and is being practiced by millions of people in 150 countries.
These workshops has been enjoyed by people of all traditions, religion, and walks of life, in universities, churches, governments, businesses, prisons, war zones, community rooms and living rooms in past. The workshop is complete in itself and is also a foundation of other Art of Living programs.
